The self-taught Lebanese artist is giving portraits an extreme makeover. A modern simplistic technique that we believe is originated due to his electronic music influence as well as his interest in Physiognomy (reading a person’s character through his facial traits)
“My purpose was to create portraits that translate the personality of the legends by using the least possible lines. My art seems really simple but it is truly complex. The trickiest part in the process is knowing what to remove than what to add’’
His creative process, sometimes takes him several hours or days, depending on the complexity of the character. “There is no timeframe for creativity, and that’s what is wonderful about it. It freezes time and gives me ultimate freedom” he adds.
Through his work, Ghayad, glorifies the eastern as well as the western legends. He re-designed legends such as Steve Jobs, Tupac Shakur, Marilyn Monroe, and even Elvis Presley.
His unique drawing style is now recognizable and hard to deconstruct. Portraits could not get simpler and more modernized than this. This art demands high precision as well as a thorough understanding of human anatomy.
He believes that the legends pushed the human race forward, whether it is in music, painting, technology or writing and he would like to do the same.

What is your vision for the future?
I was involved in the music scene way before I got into design. As I see it, the same thing that happened with underground music is now happening in the fashion world.
In the early 2000’s underground music was less known to the general public. It was being produced by independent artists in their homes with small budgets. Slowly technology allowed artists to produce high-quality music with new sounds and few types of equipment. And after that, independent artists started taking over the music world and took a huge market share from the commercial world.
The same is happening now for fashion, independent artists are creating unique art that is applicable on different kinds of apparels due to the use technology and people are starting to get drawn to it and want to buy unique clothing that isn’t produced in mass quantity. Even big brands are now collaborating with independent artists in order not to lose their market share. It is really exciting what is happening and this is opening new opportunities for a lot of people with small budgets.
In your opinion what is the best thing about art?
Art is the best thing that a human being can do. It is a relief, a meditation and a celebration of life.
